About the job
About Economic Impact Catalyst
Economic Impact Catalyst (EIC) builds the software that small business support programs run on. Since 2018 we've helped SBDCs, Women's Business Centers, CDFIs, economic development organizations and incubators across 35+ states serve more than 200,000 small business owners and facilitate over $200M in funding to underrepresented entrepreneurs.
Our products follow the business owner's journey: Catalyzer runs the program, Startup Space gets the owner ready, and LenderImpact connects them to capital. We're bootstrapped, profitable and based in Tampa Bay. We think of ourselves as an outcomes company, not a software vendor.
Our values are simple: Curiosity, Empathy, Ownership.
The role
We're hiring our first dedicated marketer to build EIC's demand engine from the ground up. You'll report directly to our founder and CEO, work closely with our founding sales lead, and own one number above all others: qualified pipeline.
This is a hands-on role. You'll write the copy, build the campaigns, run the webinars and read the dashboards yourself. There's no team to delegate to yet and no playbook to follow. If you build something that works, you'll have the chance to grow the function and lead it.
What success looks like in your first year:
- First 90 days: You know our buyers, our three products and our competitors cold. You've shipped a working lead capture and nurture system and run your first campaign.
- By month 6: Marketing is sourcing a steady, measurable share of the sales pipeline, and you can show which channels produce it.
- By month 12: You have a repeatable engine that sales trusts, and a clear case for what to invest in next.
What you'll do
-
Build the pipeline engine. Own lead capture, scoring, nurture sequences and handoff to sales in our CRM. Make every lead traceable from first touch to closed deal.
-
Run campaigns that reach program leaders. Plan and execute email, LinkedIn, webinar and event campaigns aimed at SBDC directors, economic developers, CDFI leaders and state agency program managers.
-
Create the content yourself. Write case studies, one-pagers, landing pages, newsletters and social posts that show the outcomes our clients get. Use AI tools to move fast without losing quality.
-
Make conferences pay off. Turn the national and state conferences we attend into booked meetings and follow-up pipeline, not just badge scans.
-
Arm the sales team. Build pitch decks, proposal templates, product sheets and competitive talk tracks with our sales lead.
-
Grow our audience. Help amplify the founder's Breaking Down Barriers podcast, our thought leadership and our client success stories.
-
Measure what matters. Report weekly on pipeline sourced, cost per qualified lead and conversion by channel. Cut what doesn't work quickly.
-
Who you are
-
Our best people share one trait: they're self-starters who don't wait to be told what to do. They're curious, comfortable with ambiguity and own their results, good or bad. That's the bar for this role.
You must have:
- 4+ years in B2B marketing, ideally at a SaaS company, with at least some of that time as the only marketer or on a very small team.
- A track record of generating pipeline you can show in numbers: leads, meetings, opportunities or revenue sourced.
- Strong, clear writing. You can explain a complex product in plain language to a non-technical buyer.
- Hands-on skill with a CRM and marketing automation (HubSpot, Salesforce or similar), email, LinkedIn and webinar tools.
- The habit of figuring things out on your own and shipping work without a lot of direction.
It's a plus if you have:
-
Marketed to government, nonprofit, higher education, CDFI or economic development buyers.
-
Experience with long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles where funding drives timing.
-
A personal connection to small business, entrepreneurship or community economic development.
-
Experience using AI tools to produce content and run campaigns efficiently.
-
This role isn't a fit if you're looking to manage a team and an agency budget from day one, or you need a defined playbook to be effective.
-

Founder and CEO
