About the Role Join Databricks as a Founding Engineer to help build Lakebase and establish our London presence. You’ll contribute across Lakebase Platform Reliability, Lakebase Manager, and Lakebase Proxy to deliver a fast, secure, and scalable data platform that unifies transactional workloads, analytics, and AI.
What You'll Do
- Build reliable, secure, and high-performance services and client libraries for storing and accessing large data on cloud storage backends (AWS S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Store).
- Develop product features that enable customers to store and access their data easily.
- Solve reliability problems related to Lakebase; proactively identify downtime causes and drive root-cause analysis and improvements; help define and meet SLIs/SLOs.
- Collaborate across Lakebase components: platform reliability, lifecycle management (LBM), and the data path proxy to manage the database lifecycle at scale with high reliability.
- Work on distributed systems, at-scale service architecture, monitoring, workflow orchestration, and developer experience.
What We're Looking For
- BS degree in Computer Science or related field; 8+ years of production-level experience in Java, Scala, C++, or similar.
- Experience developing large-scale distributed systems.
- Experience working on a SaaS platform or with Service-Oriented Architectures.
- Knowledge of SQL.
