About the job

The role

Realfy is hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to scope, build and ship custom AI agents for our clients, on a contract with a base fee plus commission.

Realfy builds custom AI SDRs for mid-size businesses and enterprises in Western Europe and the USA. Our agents qualify leads, answer calls and follow up across voice, video, chat, WhatsApp and email. We run a reliable core system and customize a layer on top for each client.

You sit between the client and the code. You join discovery calls, turn the client’s real sales process into an agent design, build it, and stay with it until it performs in production.

What you’ll do

• Join client audit and discovery calls, map their sales and support workflows, and agree on one measurable success criterion per pilot.

• Design and build agents and multi-agent systems for each client: voice agents, chat and website agents, email and WhatsApp flows, lead qualification and booking.

• Build retrieval pipelines over client knowledge (websites, docs, CRM data, product catalogs) that return grounded answers fast.

• Integrate with client systems: CRMs, calendars, telephony (SIP, Twilio or similar), webhooks and internal APIs.

• Profile and cut latency across the full pipeline: speech-to-text, retrieval, LLM, tool calls and text-to-speech.

• Build evaluation sets and monitoring for accuracy, hallucination rate, latency and conversion, then iterate on prompts, retrieval and model choice.

• Ship 4-week pilots, then harden successful ones into production deployments.

• Feed reusable components back into Realfy’s core platform so each new client ships faster.

• Support sales with live technical demos and scoping when a prospect needs an engineer in the room.

• What you need

You have shipped low-latency, high-accuracy agents to real users, and you can show the numbers:

• RAG retrieval under 200 ms: built retrieval that returns relevant context in under 200 ms end to end, covering embedding, vector or hybrid search, reranking and caching.
• Time to first token under 1-2 second: hit sub-second TTFT in production through streaming, model and provider choice, prompt and context size control, prompt caching and parallel tool calls.
• Natural real-time voice: built voice agents with streaming STT and TTS, voice activity detection, turn-taking, barge-in and interruption handling.
• High accuracy: kept agents grounded with evals, guardrails, structured outputs and fallbacks, and measured hallucination rate.

Also:

• 2+ years of software engineering, with at least 1 year building LLM applications in production.

• Strong Python and/or TypeScript; comfortable with async, websockets and streaming APIs.

• Hands-on with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini or open models) and voice stacks (Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Cartesia, LiveKit, Pipecat, Vapi, Retell or similar).

• Vector databases and search (pgvector, Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate, Elasticsearch or similar).

• Can debug latency across a distributed pipeline and explain where every millisecond goes.

• Client-facing: you can run a call with a non-technical business owner and translate their process into a spec.

• Fluent English. Works independently with little supervision and owns outcomes.

• Nice to have

• Experience with sales, SDR or customer support automation, or a background in B2B sales.

• Telephony depth: SIP trunking, call routing, phone number provisioning, WhatsApp Business API.

• Self-hosted or fine-tuned models, edge inference or GPU serving for latency.

• Multilingual voice agents.

• Previous forward deployed, solutions engineering or agency work with multiple clients at once.

• Compensation and contract

• This is a contract role paid as a monthly base fee plus commission on the client work you deliver.

• Engagement: independent contractor, ongoing

• Base fee + commission: 10-20% of set-up fees and 5-10% of monthly retainers on client deployments you build and maintain

• Location: remote, with working-hours overlap with Central European Time and US Pacific Time
