About the Role
Bay Area Hospital seeks a part-time Forensic Child Interviewer to conduct on-site forensic interviews with children, support families through the court process, and participate in a multidisciplinary assessment team. This role emphasizes trauma-informed interviewing, confidentiality, and collaboration with child welfare and law enforcement partners.
What You'll Do
- Conduct on-site forensic interviews with children and adolescents in a sensitive, trauma-informed manner.
- Provide support to families through the court process and coordinate with multidisciplinary team members.
- Document interviews and maintain accurate records; participate in quality assurance reviews and case consultations.
- Uphold confidentiality and comply with the center's policies; use appropriate software and office equipment.
- Demonstrate strong writing, editing and proofreading to document findings.
- Communicate effectively across departments and with the public; exercise good judgment and critical thinking.
- Complete Oregon Child Forensic Interviewer Training or obtain within 90 days of hire.
What We're Looking For
- Background as a current or former law enforcement officer or DHS-Child Welfare worker; or a Master’s degree with two years' experience working with children; or a Bachelor’s degree with four years' experience.
- Must complete (or have completed) Oregon Child Forensic Interviewer Training or obtain within 90 days of hire; valid Oregon driver's license and auto insurance; BLS certification.
- Ability to work with children and families affected by abuse; strong written and verbal communication; ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work under stress, manage multiple responsibilities, and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Knowledge of and adherence to center policies and procedures; willingness to participate in quality assurance and peer reviews.
Nice to Have
- Bi-lingual communication skills (preferred).
- Background in child development, mental health, psychology, social work or related field; prior interviewing experience in abuse/neglect cases.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $23.87 - $30.69 USD hourly.
- This position is funded solely by federal VOCA grants; FTE status contingent on grant availability.
