Job title: Food Service Worker
About the Role Under the supervision of Leader, Assistant Managers and Managers is responsible for food preparation and general kitchen duties in the campus dining operation.
What You'll Do
- Prepare food items according to documented recipes in the assigned area and monitor food quality throughout meal periods.
- Handle all condiments and garnishes for the meal in the assigned area; replenish and maintain the area.
- Maintain area cleanliness and sanitary conditions; ensure proper temperatures and HACCP compliance on serving lines or in assigned areas.
- Prepare items and perform tasks required for catered functions as assigned.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area following established standards; assist in safety and security of dining areas.
- Operate cash registers according to established procedures; check in meal tickets, accept cash, and prepare assigned reports; contribute to dining area safety and security.
- Serve customers efficiently and courteously; work in the dish room washing dishes, pots, pans, and any assigned foodservice equipment.
- Clean equipment, freezers, refrigerators, storerooms, and general kitchen areas; prepare forms and reports as requested.
- Participate in recipe testing and development; train and guide temporary employees.
- Contribute to the total function of the dining service operation in a positive manner; perform other duties as assigned.
- These are full-time, nine-month positions with benefits including health, dental, tuition-free classes, free access to a fitness center and sporting events, and a retirement match. Schedule is Sun–Thu 2:30–10:30pm; location: North Star Cafe.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in food preparation and general kitchen duties; ability to follow documented recipes and monitor food quality.
- Knowledge of proper temperatures and HACCP/sanitation standards; ability to maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Ability to operate cash registers, handle meal tickets, and process cash; customer service oriented.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with guests and co-workers; willingness to train temporary employees.
- Flexibility to participate in recipe testing and development as part of dining service operations.

- Experience with recipe testing and development (preferred).
