About the Role Nelson University seeks experienced, self-starting, creative, and service-oriented individuals to join our team. The ideal candidate will lead daily food preparation, maintain kitchen cleanliness and safety, and serve in a role that reflects our Christian hospitality. What You'll Do
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of daily meals for students and staff
- Ensure food quality, safety, and sanitation standards are met
- Collaborate with the Food Service Director on menu and special events
- Supervise kitchen staff and student workers
- Manage inventory and rotation, and minimize waste
- Create a welcoming and respectful environment consistent with Christian hospitality What We're Looking For

- Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen or institutional food service
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
- Commitment to the mission and values of a Christian educational institution
- Be able to pass a background check
- Preferred: ServSafe Certification Nice to Have
- ServSafe Certification (preferred) Compensation & Benefits
- Overtime eligibility: not exempt from overtime per the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
