About the Role
The Food Service Associate I supports tray line activities and sanitation in the Food and Nutrition department at Bay Area Hospital. This part-time role involves assisting with tray line, cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking kitchen/cafeteria areas, and ensuring safe food handling.
What You'll Do
- Assist with tray line activities and clean, sanitize, and restock kitchen/cafeteria areas.
- Follow procedures for safe food handling and sanitation; maintain regular attendance.
- Proficiently operate equipment including buffalo chopper, knives, mixers, blenders, measuring equipment, robot coupe, slicers, scales, induction warmer system, coffee makers, thermometers, can opener, portion control device, computer, telephone, and calculator.
- Know formula cards and their use; portion and garnish foods.
- Maintain FIFO inventory control; learn sanitation techniques and tray line operation.
- Read, write, and speak English; perform basic math operations.
What We're Looking For
- Education/Certifications: Must hold (or obtain within 30 days of hire) an Oregon Food Handler, Food Manager certification or ServSafe certification. Able to read, write legibly and converse in English. High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Oregon state driver’s license preferred.
- Experience: One (1) year hospital-based food service or restaurant experience preferred.
- Physical/Functional: Able to stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, and bend frequently; may be exposed to high temperature/humidity and wet surfaces; lift up to 20 pounds.
- Skills: Ability to learn, retain and implement sanitation techniques, portion control, and tray line operation; ability to communicate effectively.
Nice to Have
- One year of hospital-based food service or restaurant experience preferred.
