Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Food and Beverage Services Supervisor, leads concession operations at various City of West Des Moines Parks & Recreation facilities, including the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex, Raccoon River Park Softball Complex, Holiday Park Baseball Complex, Holiday Aquatic Center, and Valley View Aquatic Center.

Assists with overseeing daily concession operations within a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include: assigns tasks to concession staff; accurately processes and balances transactions; ensures the accuracy and completion of all food and equipment logs; maintains a clean and safe work environment; responsible for training new concession staff; and assists with assessing inventory and product orders.

This is an event-driven position with an emphasis on evening and weekend shifts. Work locations and schedules vary based on events, facility operations, and seasonal needs. Weekend availability is required regardless of assigned location.

Typical hours:

• RecPlex (year-round): 4:00 – 10:00 PM weekdays, 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM weekends. Schedules vary based on events.

• Baseball and Softball (April – October): 4:00 – 10:00 PM weekdays, 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM weekends.

• Aquatic Centers (Memorial Day – Labor Day): Hours vary based on location, 11:00 AM – 8PM seven days a week.

• Flexible scheduling based on operational needs and employee availability

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older. High school diploma or equivalent plus previous concessions, restaurant, or bar experience is preferred.

• Additional after hire: First Aid, CPR, AED certification, within 30 days of employment, ServSafe certification, within 30 days of employment, IPACT certification, within 30 days of employment. If designated by department, possession of a valid driver’s license.

• Physical/Drug Test

• Post offer, pre-employment drug test and credit check are required.
