Job title: FNP - Assistant Professor
About the Role The School of Nursing at LIU Brooklyn seeks a full-time, non-tenure track professor to teach in the MS program for family nurse practitioners. The position combines teaching, program administration, and scholarly activity to support the MS program and maintain accreditation.
What You'll Do
- Manage and administer the MS in Nursing program
- Oversee CCNE accreditation process
- Generate internal and external reports
- Maintain program compliance with NYSED and accrediting agencies
- Monitor academic standards for the graduate nursing program
- Provide academic leadership and oversight for the graduate nursing program
- Coordinate course offerings and faculty assignments
- Monitor and evaluate graduate nursing faculty in didactic and clinical settings
- Teach courses in the MS Program
- Participate in all Departmental, School, and Campus committees (as appointed)
- Engage in Departmental and Campus recruitment efforts
- Act as faculty advisor for MS students
- Assist in student retention
- Maintain high academic standards utilizing appropriate student evaluation mechanisms for assigned courses/programs; analyze and implement changes as part of these programmatic and Departmental outcomes
- Faculty development
- Encouragement of proposal and grant activities
- Scholarly research
- Curriculum development and evaluation
- Planning, implementing and ongoing evaluation of course content
- Chairing and participating in ongoing department and undergraduate program meetings
- Maintenance of academic quality and compliance with regulations of the State Education Department and the requirements for accreditation of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and NP organizations
What We're Looking For
- Earned doctorate in nursing or doctorate (PhD, EdD, DNP) in a related field; master's degree in nursing preferred
- Will consider candidates who are currently enrolled in a doctoral program or will be in the near future
- Licensed Registered Nurse in New York; Board Certified Nurse Practitioner in New York
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical practice with evidence of current and continuing practice; teaching experience; strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to manage time effectively
- College-level teaching and administrative experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program
- Excellent leadership, supervision, and written and oral communication skills
- Expertise in writing grant proposals and/or conducting research
Nice to Have
- Experience with simulation equipment in nursing is preferable
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $95,001 - $100,000 per year
