Job title: Fleet Transportation Manager
Fleet Transportation Manager at Adelbrook will oversee the agency's fleet, vehicles and related operations. Primary duties include vehicle maintenance, staff supervision, dispatching transport vans, and ensuring compliance with DOT and CT DMV requirements. This onsite role supports operations across facilities with a focus on safety, efficiency, and budgeting.
Maintain agency vehicles and perform repairs; supervise Lead Mechanic and garage operations; supervise Drivers. Manage fleet records including registrations, licensing, inspections, DOT audits, and GPS tracking; ensure vehicle up-to-date and compliant with CT DMV emissions. Directly oversee staff (full-time and part-time) and administrative tasks: payroll approval, contracts, purchasing, compliance. Dispatch transport vans for pickups/drop-offs; ensure annual inspections and code compliance; coordinate with Maintenance department; assist snow removal and budget preparation; analyze data to increase efficiency; participate in hiring for fleet positions. Keep records of all agency vehicles INC and CSI, responsible for registering and licensing each vehicle, and ensuring that licenses are always up to date. Track and monitor GPS units and ensure DOT inspections and audits are completed; maintain student transport vehicles in compliance with DOT and state requirements. Provide PPE and maintain a clean, safe working environment; support in budget preparation and operational efficiency. Perform other duties as assigned by Sr. Director for Facilities.
High School diploma and at least two years of experience as an Automotive Technician, Management or other comparable position; must demonstrate skills in two areas from electricity, plumbing, carpentry, heating and air conditioning, welding, auto mechanics or small engine repair. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and insurance; must be able to drive agency vans, automobiles, pickup trucks, and operate other agency equipment. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a team member with people from diverse backgrounds; supervisory and administrative experience. Knowledge of fleet management, vehicle maintenance practices, and regulatory compliance (DOT, DMV).
Experience with GPS fleet tracking systems.
