Job Description
- Fleet Service Officer oversees vehicle repairs, preventive maintenance schedules, and shop operations to keep a company's vehicle inventory safe, compliant, and fully operational. the strategic, end-to-end process of sourcing, negotiating, and acquiring goods, services, or works from external suppliers.
Core Responsibilities
- Preventive Maintenance (PM): Design and execute routine service schedules based on mileage, hours, or calendar triggers to avoid unexpected breakdowns.
- Repair and Shop Operations: Assign work orders to mechanics, manage repair queues, and minimize vehicle downtime.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure all vehicles meet local and national regulatory and safety inspection standards.
- Cost and Budget Tracking: Monitor cost-per-mile (CPM), track total cost of ownership (TCO), and manage repair parts inventory.
- Fleet Management: Manage the organization's fleet of vehicles, including maintenance, repairs, fuel consumption tracking, and vehicle allocation. Ensure all drivers and vehicles compliant with safety regulations and organizational policies.
- Warehouse & Inventory Management: Oversee the proper management of all goods and supplies. This includes managing storage facilities, conducting regular stock counts, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Asset Management: Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date asset register. Ensure all assets are properly tagged, tracked, and disposed of according to policy.
- Transportation: Plan and coordinate the safe and timely transportation of goods, materials, and staff to different project locations.
Requirements
Education (Knowledge):
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
- 2-3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, with at least 2-3 years in a managerial or supervisory position, preferably within the NGO or humanitarian sector.
- Proven experience in managing the full supply chain, including procurement, warehousing, and transportation.
- Strong knowledge of donor regulations is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics management software.
Key Skills Required:
- Proficiency in computerized maintenance management software (CMMS) or fleet tracking tools.
- Strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic capabilities.
- Budget management and inventory control.
- Team leadership and staff supervision.
Salary
N180,000 - N200,000 per month.
