About the Role An entry-level Fleet Maintenance Trainee who works under direct supervision to assist in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of SORTA transit buses and related fleet equipment. This role participates in SORTA's Fleet Maintenance Training Program to develop the technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed for a career in fleet maintenance.
What You'll Do
- Follow SORTA maintenance procedures and shop standards based on oral or written instructions.
- Assist in the inspection, servicing, and repair of SORTA transit buses, support vehicles, and related fleet equipment.
- Develop proficiency diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues while under direct supervision.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance such as fluid checks, filter replacement, lubrication, and general inspections.
