Job title: Fixed-Term Accountant (18 months)
About the Role The role is a fixed-term accounting professional (18 months) within the GBS ESC to support high-quality accounting services and help establish the new organizational setup and end-to-end processes. The position involves collaboration across service line teams to ensure complete coverage of interfaces and smooth transition of processes.
What You'll Do
- Operate all accounting-related transactions in sub-ledgers and Cash Operations, including O2C, P2P, Bank Accounting, and Master Data; ensure compliance with accounting and VAT regulations; post accruals and provisions; prepare and execute payments and payment runs
- Execute and support Record-to-Report activities, and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual GL closing activities
- Prepare reporting packages and analyses; generate financial statements per IFRS, local commercial, and tax laws
- Manage fixed assets at group/affiliate level (IFRS 9/15/16, IAS 40); support investment planning, budgeting, and forecasting across the asset lifecycle
- Support credit management and credit analysis; maintain master data for E2E processes in coordination with data stewards and MDM governance
- Collaborate across Fixed Assets, Intercompany, and Financial Accounting; support customer handling and cross-functional teamwork
- Respond to internal audit/tax authority requests; contribute to policies, procedures, J-SOX controls, and internal risk controls
- Participate in projects to optimize accounting activities and the development of the GBS ESC framework
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related field; finance-related professional education
- At least 3 years of accounting/finance experience in a global, cross-cultural environment; CPA or equivalent preferred; experience in audit or advisory is a plus
- Strong IFRS knowledge; good knowledge of HGB and international VAT; project/process management skills a plus
- SAP knowledge (R/3/ECC/S/4HANA) with modules FI/CO; MDG; AA; familiarity with MM/SD or other reporting tools is a plus; MS Office proficiency
- Excellent English language skills (business fluent) and/or German (business fluent); strong communication, collaboration, and analytical abilities; ability to work in international settings; pharma business understanding is a plus
- Experience in GBS/shared services/transformation environments is advantageous; willingness to contribute to a dynamic, global team
Nice to Have
- CPA or equivalent professional certification; project management experience; track record of successful implementations; SAP experience across multiple modules
