First Year Composition (EN100) Adjunct Instructor

The Elizabethtown College Department of English seeks an Adjunct Instructor-First Year Composition for an on-campus role in a classroom.

The Adjunct will deliver foundational coursework with emphasis on information literacy, the research process, and revision.

This position will start in the spring semester (January 2027). Assigned courses are tentatively scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:00am and 12:30pm.

We seek a candidate who uses current composition pedagogy and employs active learning. At this point in time, the class days & times have not been determined.

This position is for an entirely face-to-face (in-person) role in a classroom at Elizabethtown College.

Please note an applicant must reside in one of the following states to be considered for employment due to internal payroll tax limitations:

• Maryland
• Maine
• New Jersey
• North Carolina
• Pennsylvania
• Virginia

Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in English, Rhetoric, Journalism, or Creative Writing.
• Evidence of teaching experience, including experience teaching first year composition.
• Evidence of experience and expertise in designing in-person instruction.
• Ability to teach in-person sections.
