Job title: Fire Protection Technician
About the Role Two to three sentences describing a Fire Protection Technician who services and troubleshoots sprinkler and fire pump systems on-site for Johnson Controls, ensuring safety and compliance while supporting on-call coverage. You will read construction blueprints, follow instructions, and maintain accurate documentation.
What You'll Do
- Service and troubleshoot wet/dry/pre-action sprinkler systems and fire pump-based systems, including repair and internal inspections
- Read and understand complex construction blueprints, diagrams, and specifications used in installation activities
- Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 60 pounds; perform work in positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment up to 40 feet or more
- Maintain a clean and safe work area; dispose of Johnson Controls Fire Protection waste properly
- Wear required safety equipment (bump cap/hard hat, safety glasses, cut-resistant gloves, face mask, safety-toed boots)
- Properly secure tools and equipment at the end of each work period to prevent damage or loss
- Utilize computer/phone skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, iPhone apps) and complete time reports and other documents
- Report any changes, discrepancies, or coordination problems to the dispatcher/supervisor that could impact activities or schedules
- Work alternate shifts or weekends to meet customer service on-call requirements
- Perform other duties as directed
What We're Looking For

REQUIRED: Valid State of Connecticut Fire Protection Unlimited Journeyperson License (F2)

High School Diploma or equivalent

3-5 years of experience in the fire protection industry

Working knowledge of wet, dry and pre-action sprinkler systems, and fire pump systems

Clean driving record

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and read construction blueprints

PREFERRED: Sprinkler and Backflow license a plus or must be obtained; NICET is a plus
Nice to Have
- NICET certification
- Backflow license (or plan to obtain)
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $33.65 - $46.15 per hour
