About the Role The Fire Protection function within Entergy's Central Programs Engineering Department maintains design control for fire protection and provides technical support to the plant. This role ensures configuration control of design outputs (specifications, calculations, drawings, test requirements and procedures), participates in NFPA 805 monitoring, and develops long-range planning for Fire Protection System improvements. What You'll Do
- Maintain the Fire Protection Design Basis at the site.
- Ensure the three Fire Protection defense in depth echelons are maintained: prevention (combustible/hotwork controls), rapid detection and suppression of fires, and protection of essential safety functions with fire barriers and protections.
- Provide cost-effective modification designs to improve the fire protection program and safe shutdown capability.
- Provide Fire Protection technical support to operations, maintenance, engineering and other site organizations.
- Develop, plan and coordinate or implement special projects, corrective action plans, and improvement programs to address fire protection plant problems or regulatory sensitive issues.
- Ensure fire protection engineering products are performed in accordance with the site’s fire protection program and implemented consistent with defined standards and procedures.
- Prepare fire protection impact reviews, combustible load and suppression capability calculations, and fire hazards analyses consistent with the licensing basis. What We're Looking For
- B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering Technology from an accredited engineering curriculum or equivalent work experience. If not a graduate, a minimum of 6 years engineering experience indicative of growth in engineering competency in Highly Protected Risk facilities.
- For Engineer II: 2+ years of experience (1+ year with master’s), Engineer III: 4+ years (3+ years with PE/master’s), Senior: 6+ years (5+ years with PE/master’s), Senior Lead: 10+ years (8+ years with PE/master’s).
- Proficient in fire protection engineering principles for Highly Protected Risk facilities including fire hazard analyses, fire modeling, fire performance tests, system failure analyses, Probabilistic Risk Assessment, NFPA conformance reviews, and model building code assessments.
- Ability to interface with Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies.
- Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles is desired.
- Outstanding interpersonal, conflict management, problem solving, and change management skills; strong written and oral communication; proficient with Microsoft desktop software.
- Desired: Professional Engineering license, SFPE membership and qualification. Nice to Have

- Required to be on an Emergent Response Organization (ERO) rotation.
