About the Role We are expanding our Fire Life Safety Engineering team to deliver fire protection and life safety engineering for industrial facilities. These engineers bridge process safety, facility design, and construction execution, ensuring code compliance and alignment with operational risk and process hazards across North America. What You'll Do
- Provide fire protection and life safety design, analysis, and construction support for industrial facilities, including fire and smoke modeling, hazards analysis, risk assessments, scenario evaluations, smoke management plans, explosion protection strategies, and fire-area separation concepts.
- Perform fire hazard analysis to determine hazards and appropriate active and passive fire protection schemes in line with codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Generate calculations to size water supply, fire pumps, and underground piping.
- Develop subcontractor scope of work packages based on hazard analysis and calculations.
- Award and manage subcontractors based on the scope of work packages developed.
- Review subcontractor fire suppression and fire alarm system plans and calculations.
- Review fire barrier and penetration seal requirements for specific hazards.
- Perform life safety reviews for buildings and industrial equipment areas. Prepare system documentation, O&M requirements, and emergency response procedures.
- Travel approximately 10% to meet with clients and/or job site personnel on an as-needed basis. What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering or related engineering field. EIT preferred.
- 3+ years minimum relevant experience in fire protection and life safety design/analysis and construction support for industrial, power or similar facilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey concepts and requirements to team members and clients. Nice to Have
- EIT preferred.
