Job title: Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Systems Technician
About the Role
A Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Systems Technician who installs, programs, configures, commissions and services fire life safety systems at customer sites. You will work with project managers and customers to ensure on-time, safe project delivery and provide training on system operation.
What You'll Do
- Install, program, configure, commission and service Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression Systems including but not limited to Simplex, Fike, Kidde, Inergen, Sapphire, FM-200, and CO2 at customer sites.
- Execute projects on time and within allocated installation hours; coordinate with project manager to resolve discrepancies and ensure smooth installation across multiple projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics and operation/product manuals.
- Coordinate installation activities with all trades to optimize installation time; attend required site meetings.
- Instruct and train customers on functional operation of equipment/system; conduct simulations and answer questions.
- Exhibit excellent customer service; maintain timely project documentation; adhere to OSHA and SimplexGrinnell safety policies; participate in on-call rotation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Three (3) years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems (Fire/Life Safety, Access Control, Nurse Call, Paging).
- Experience reading/interpreting blueprints, submittals, and manuals.
- Experience with hand tools, test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices.
- Able to obtain and retain licenses required by National, State and local codes.
- Capable of physical labor lifting 50-70 lbs; able to work in unusual positions (ladders, scaffolding, up to 40 feet, ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings).
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends; strong customer service.
- Ability to lead and work well with team members; adhere to safety guidelines.
