Job Summary
We are seeking a creative, skilled and passionate Fine Arts / IGCSE Art & Design Teacher who can inspire students to develop their artistic abilities, creative thinking and confidence across a range of artistic disciplines. The successful candidate will have strong practical knowledge of Fine Arts and demonstrated experience teaching Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design. The candidate should be particularly skilled in drawing, painting, design and calligraphy, with the ability to guide students from initial ideas and experimentation through to well-developed and presented final pieces. The ideal candidate should combine strong artistic ability with effective classroom teaching, assessment and student development skills.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging Fine Arts and IGCSE Art & Design lessons in line with the relevant curriculum and examination requirements.

Develop students’ skills in drawing, painting, design, composition, observation and creative expression.

Teach and demonstrate a range of traditional and contemporary art techniques and media.

Provide practical instruction and guidance in calligraphy and lettering, including composition, proportion, technique and presentation.

Help students develop their own artistic ideas from initial concepts through experimentation, refinement and final presentation.

Support students in developing portfolios that demonstrate research, exploration, development and presentation of ideas.

Prepare students effectively for IGCSE Art & Design examinations and coursework requirements.

Assess students’ work using appropriate assessment criteria and provide constructive feedback to support improvement.

Maintain accurate records of students’ progress, assessment and attainment.

Identify students who require additional support and provide appropriate intervention and guidance.

Organise and maintain art materials, equipment and studio spaces to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

Encourage students to appreciate different artistic styles, cultures, artists and forms of visual expression.

Promote creativity, originality, critical thinking and confidence in students’ artistic work.

Participate actively in exhibitions, art displays, school events and other co-curricular activities.

Collaborate with colleagues to support students’ wider academic and personal development.

Undertake any other duties reasonably assigned by the School.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Art Education, Creative Arts, Art & Design or a closely related discipline.

TRCN certification
-
Relevant teaching qualification such as PGDE or equivalent will be an advantage.

Demonstrable qualification, training or certification in Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design.

Previous experience teaching IGCSE Art & Design in a reputable school is strongly preferred.

Good understanding of the Cambridge IGCSE Art & Design curriculum, assessment objectives and portfolio development.

3–5 years’ relevant teaching experience, preferably within an international, British or Cambridge-curriculum school.

Demonstrable practical competence in Fine Arts, supported by a portfolio of personal and/or student artwork.
