About the Role

Wise is seeking a FinCrime Operations Analyst - Sanctions to join our Sanctions Screening team in Hyderabad. This role will contribute to staying compliant with sanctions regulations by reviewing and investigating potential matches, conducting due diligence, and escalating issues through established channels.

What You'll Do

  • Sanctions Screening and Investigation: Review and investigate potential matches generated by sanctions screening systems, conducting due diligence to determine if a true match exists.
  • Escalate potential sanctions breaches to appropriate teams using established channels and documented processes.
  • Monitoring: Analyse transaction data to identify unusual patterns or activities that may indicate money laundering, terrorist financing, or sanctions evasion; triage actionable alerts.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date on sanctions regulations (OFAC, EU, UK) and AML/due diligence laws; implement updates to guidances and procedures.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of alert reviews, investigations, decisions, and supporting documentation; ensure data privacy compliance; escalate as needed per policy.
  • Risk Assessment and Escalation: Perform risk assessments; escalate high-risk cases and suspected breaches to appropriate teams; escalate to leadership per protocol.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with KYC, Compliance, and Engineering; communicate clearly with customers to obtain necessary details.
  • KPIs and Training: Meet individual and team targets; participate in trainings.

What We're Looking For

  • Eligible to work in Hyderabad.
  • Strong verbal and written English; additional languages a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience in Operations, preferably sanctions compliance or AML/due diligence.
  • Able to maintain high quality and accuracy; follow procedures; risk-based approach.
  • Independent, proactive, decisive; curious mind; ability to cut through noise.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; organizational, analytical, attention to detail; able to meet strict KPIs in fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work autonomously within established procedures; identify gaps and provide feedback via established channels.
  • Flexible to work in shifts; early mornings, day times, weekends and public holidays as per business needs.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Law (Nice to have)
  • Additional languages are a plus
