The Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Community Health Center (CHC) provides comprehensive, community-based preventive and primary care services for New Jersey residents of all ages across four convenient locations. From annual check-ups and immunizations to mental health counseling and prenatal care, we are committed to delivering high-quality, accessible care to every member of the community.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Financial Counselor to join our Freehold, NJ team. In this role, you’ll work directly with uninsured patients to help them navigate financial assistance programs, prepare for upcoming appointments, and ensure accurate documentation. You’ll collaborate closely with clinical and administrative teams, support front desk staff, and play a key role in improving access to care for a diverse patient population.

Support the organization’s mission by fostering positive, professional relationships across all departments.
Review and monitor the site’s appointment schedule to track uninsured patient panels.
Conduct proactive outreach to patients to gather required documentation and prepare them for upcoming visits using secure communication platforms.
Accurately determine eligibility for uninsured patient programs, including the sliding fee discount program and self-pay options.
Complete all required documentation with precision in our Practice Management system (NextGen).
Train Front Desk Coordinators and assist with onboarding at other locations as needed.
Participate in regular performance review meetings with the Office Manager and Billing Supervisor.
Maintain compliance with organizational policies regarding attendance and professional appearance.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.

2+ years of experience in clerical and office support work
Prior experience in medical billing and/or insurance enrollment required
Bilingual (English-Spanish) required
Ability to problem solve and work independently with little supervision
Strong communication and math skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a culturally diverse population

In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the compensation range for this position is USD $16.00 to USD $24.00.
