Job Title: Financial Analyst III
Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid)
Role Overview
An experienced analyst is sought to support Gas Engineering and Regulated Operations teams. This position is responsible for capital planning, budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting activities that help guide investment decisions across the business. This is a collaborative role that partners with Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Regulatory teams to analyze capital projects, monitor expenditures, develop financial models, and support regulatory filings.
Key Responsibilities

Gather relevant and accurate financial information to create actionable business intelligence which leads to improved decisions and performance.

Use SAP, analytical models, and spreadsheet skills to support capital planning, reporting, and benchmarking efforts.

Develop financial models for resource allocation, regulatory testimony support, and rate case schedules.

Support planning and rate case filings by establishing accurate costs through financial analysis of historical expenditures.

Prepare various financial analysis projects for review, such as risk analysis, internal rate of return, and budget evaluations.

Assist management in developing and monitoring capital budgets, providing meaningful planning and expenditure information.

Liaise with the Finance department to ensure knowledge transfer and provide business input into system and process changes.

Participate on or lead cross-functional teams to provide business and financial expertise in support of Gas Engineering efforts.

Maintain data integrity in financial tools or systems used to track capital projects and expenditures, such as SAP and MS Access.

Prepare, participate, and lead monthly budget review meetings with regional management.

Required Qualifications
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, finance, engineering, or operations. Experience developing financial models and performing budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

Skills

Proficiency with SAP and current versions of Microsoft Office products, including Excel.

Additional Skills

Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills are required. The ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience in the utility, energy, oil & gas, pipeline, or other regulated industry.

Capital project accounting, project controls, or capital expenditure (CapEx) planning experience.

Experience supporting regulatory filings, rate cases, or audit requests.

Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.

Work Environment

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with pressure to meet deadlines.

The ability to work more than 40 hours per week, including occasional overtime, may be required to meet established objectives.

A valid driver's license and a safe driving record are necessary.

Travel for work, meetings, or conferences may be required, potentially including overnight stays.

This position may require remaining in the service area during emergency events to aid in restoration efforts.
