About this position
We are looking for a Financial Analyst Consultant. The Corporates Division (SMC), part of the Industries and Cross-Cutting Themes Department, leads the origination and delivery of operations in agribusiness, manufacturing, tourism and digital economy.
The Southern Cone Division (RSC), part of the Regions Department, is responsible for managing business and client engagement from a country perspective within its member countries. It also provides oversight to the Country Representatives of the IDB’s Vice Presidency for Countries and to the Heads of Delivery Units at IDB Invest.
The Delivery Units are responsible for: (i) establishing and maintaining client relationships, (ii) building pipeline through upstream project and sector development, (iii) transaction execution through the incorporation of multiple financial products including loans, guarantees, debt capital markets, equity and quasi-equity instruments, as well as resource mobilization and technical cooperation and (iv) acting as the center of institutional knowledge and expertise for the sectors covered by the Division.
You will work in the Delivery Unit that has dual-reporting to the Corportes Division and the Southern Cone Division.
What you’ll do

Assist with project feasibility assessment for lending and investment projects. This entails conducting research relative to prospective project sponsors, gathering and developing relevant market, industry and financial data, and assisting with the preparation of operations summaries and preliminary desk evaluations of potential projects.

Review and analyze financial statements and develop and/or adapt computer financial models, including financial projection models, to evaluate financial information and support management decision-making.

May participate in appraisal missions to gather necessary technical, legal, economic, financial information as assigned to assess the merits of potential lending or equity investment projects.

Establish and maintain quality client relationships to ensure responsive client service and to enhance new business opportunities.

Assist with the development of detailed post-appraisal project reports related to lending and equity investment projects. This includes compiling data, conducting analyses, and preparing reports related to capital cost, financing plan, financial projections, legal considerations and other major issues.

May assist with disbursements for approved lending and investment projects by assisting with the verification that project sponsors comply with all contractual conditions.

Assist with the supervision of approved lending and investment projects to ensure their development as per established agreements.

Assist in the preparation of PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, information memoranda for investment projects, and other business-related reports required by the Delivery Unit in its day-to-day operations.

What you’ll need

Education: You hold a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related fields.

Experience: At least 2 years of progressive experience in loan origination, structuring or portfolio management with a proven track-record working with both equity and debt in an investment bank, commercial bank or developmental bank is desirable. Very strong financial modeling/valuation and analytical skills will be considered a plus.

Languages: Proficiency in English and one of the other Bank official languages (Spanish, French or Portuguese) is required

Citizenship: Must be eligible to work in Paraguay or Chile without the need for sponsorship.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
