M&T Bank is hiring a Financial Advisor to grow and manage a book of business across the Washington, DC and Northern Virginia market. This role offers access to a well-established referral network through Retail, Business Banking, and Wealth partners, providing a steady flow of opportunities so you can focus on building relationships, deepening client connections, and delivering personalized financial solutions.
What You'll Do

Build and grow a book of business through referrals, proactive business development, and partnerships with retail branch teams throughout the DC and Northern Virginia market

Deliver personalized investment and insurance solutions tailored to client goals and financial objectives

Partner with branch, business banking, and wealth professionals to identify and develop new client opportunities

Conduct portfolio reviews and provide strategic recommendations to help clients grow, preserve, and transfer wealth

Manage the full client relationship lifecycle, from initial discovery through ongoing advice and service What You Bring:

2+ years of sales, business development, relationship management, retail banking, financial services, or client-facing experience

Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and develop new business opportunities

Strong prospecting, networking, and relationship-building skills

Ability to work independently while leveraging internal partnerships and referral sources

Passion for helping clients achieve their financial goals through personalized advice and solutions

Education and
Experience

Required:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years' sales, sales administration, financial services, and/or retail banking experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years' sales, sales administration, financial services, and/or retail banking experience

Licenses Required:

Series 7, 63, and 65 or 66

Life/Variable Insurance license

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $72,200.00 - $120,300.00 (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
