About the Role The Bergen Vicinage Finance Division is seeking a meticulous finance professional to support accounting, auditing, budgeting, and financial analysis. You will extract data from legacy and web-based systems, analyze it in Excel, prepare financial reports, and help ensure compliance with internal controls and applicable laws. The role requires regular on-site presence in Hackensack with up to two remote workdays.
What You'll Do
- Navigate legacy and proprietary technology systems to extract needed data.
- Prepare technical, statistical, financial, review or evaluation reports.
- Interpret accounting, financial, or statistical data.
- Perform financial and internal control audits.
- Conduct financial audits for accuracy, compliance or legitimacy.
- Analyze cases in accordance with existing laws, regulations, or professional practices.
- Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Review activities for adherence to applicable procedures, administrative directives, and laws/regulations.
- Compiling statistical data on workload volume, unit expenditures, personnel actions, fixed assets, equipment or attendance.
- Coordinating the collection, maintenance and tabulation of accounting, financial or statistical data.
- Performing variance analysis and determining the course of action to correct mis-posts, financial errors, and discrepancies.
- Preparing spending projections
- Developing operating budgets
- Processing vendor payments and employee reimbursements
- Recommending improvements in operating procedures, programs, standards, work processes, or administrative practices.
- Participating fully in team or work unit meetings and special projects.
- Providing quality customer service to court users and internal customers.
- Functioning as a liaison and establishing positive working relationships with other divisions, vicinages, central office, and external stakeholders.
- Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree with 21 credit hours in accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, statistics, mathematics, data analytics and/or financial related courses; six credit hours must be in accounting; three years of professional accounting, auditing, budgeting, cash management and/or financial analysis. Substitution: candidates who do not have the exact education but possess the applicable courses may substitute additional paraprofessional and/or professional experience on a year-for-year basis (one year equals 30 semester hours).
- Proven experience in internal controls, data analysis, and Excel proficiency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively; meet deadlines.
- Commitment to a regular on-site presence and professionalism.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $70,893.73 to $112,619.28 for Schedule A and $70,893.73 to $106,988.28 for Schedule B. Starting salary typically at the minimum of the range.
