About the role
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our Finance team at Novotel Surfers Paradise. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who enjoys working with numbers, maintaining accurate financial records, and contributing to the financial success of a dynamic hospitality business. As a Finance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting daily financial operations, ensuring compliance, and providing accurate reporting to assist informed business decisions.
What you’ll be doing
- Process accounts receivable transactions
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheets, and general ledger accounts
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial reporting
- Prepare and process journals, accruals, and adjustments
- Monitor and maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with company policies, statutory requirements, and accounting standards
- Liaise with department managers, suppliers, and external stakeholders regarding financial matters
- Provide administrative and analytical support to the Finance Team
Qualifications

Previous experience in a Finance Officer, Accounts Officer, or similar accounting role

Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial processes

Experience with Sun, Purchase Plus, Zambion, accounting software and Microsoft Excel

Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

A proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement

Diploma of Accounting, or relevant tertiary qualification preferred

Hospitality industry experience is highly regarded but not essential
