Finance Manager

We are looking for a Finance Manager to provide hands-on financial leadership for a healthcare-related organization in Charlotte, North Carolina. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who can oversee core accounting activities, support grant and payroll functions, and produce accurate financial reporting with minimal day-to-day supervision. The position will work closely with organizational leadership to strengthen financial operations, maintain reporting accuracy, and help guide budgeting and analysis efforts.

Responsibilities

• Direct general ledger activity and lead the monthly close cycle to ensure timely and accurate financial records.

• Prepare, analyze, and review financial statements for leadership, highlighting key trends and variances.

• Administer grant-related accounting, including reconciliations, allocation tracking, and reporting tied to restricted funding.

• Coordinate payroll administration for a workforce of approximately 65 hourly and salaried employees through an outsourced Paychex process on a bi-weekly schedule.

• Monitor timekeeping inputs, payroll funding distributions, and grant-based payroll reporting to support compliance and accuracy.

• Contribute to budget preparation and perform budget-to-actual reviews to help leadership assess financial performance.

• Collaborate closely with internal organizational partners on day-to-day financial operations and strategic accounting needs.

• Work independently as a primary finance resource while partnering with a Billing Specialist to support broader accounting functions.

• Demonstrated experience managing month-end close and maintaining general ledger accuracy.

• Strong background in financial statement preparation, financial reporting, and financial analysis.

• Hands-on expertise in grant accounting, including work with federal or government-funded programs.

• Familiarity with payroll oversight, including bi-weekly processing, allocations, and reporting coordination.

• Ability to operate effectively in a lean team environment with limited staff support and no direct reports.

• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and budget-to-actual analysis is preferred.

• Exposure to fund accounting and background in nonprofit, healthcare, hospital, or social assistance settings is a plus.

• Proficiency with finance systems and tools such as Abila MIP is preferred.
