Job title: Finance Manager
About the Role Curative is seeking a highly motivated Finance Manager to oversee financial operations and provide insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial modeling with an emphasis on medical expenses and administrative costs. Hybrid work arrangement will be 4 days in-office and 1 day remote.
What You'll Do
- Serve as primary contributor to annual budgeting and forecasting with the Director of Finance; develop robust financial plans focused on medical expenses and admin costs.
- Contribute to 5-year financial models supporting strategic initiatives, product development, and pricing decisions.
- Participate in capital adequacy planning, RBC and BCAR analyses.
- Conduct in-depth financial analysis of claims trends, utilization, and revenue streams to identify drivers and improvement opportunities.
- Analyze financial impact of Quality Improvement initiatives and other operational programs on profitability and MLR.
- Prepare financial reports and presentations for senior management comparing actuals to budget/forecast and strategic goals.
- Ensure accurate reporting of key metrics (premiums, claims incurred including IBNR, admin expenses) for internal analysis and regulatory filings support.
- Oversee MLR calculation and analysis, provide insights against ACA requirements and internal targets.
- Assist with financial audits and regulatory reviews; maintain knowledge of statutory accounting principles and healthcare regulations.
- Supervise and mentor junior finance staff; implement process improvements and maintain strong internal controls.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in finance or accounting with forecast modeling.
- Strong GAAP knowledge; expert-level Excel; ERP experience (SAP, Oracle, Workday); data visualization tools Tableau/Power BI a plus.
- Familiarity with healthcare operations concepts (claims processing, underwriting, MLR, IBNR) and willingness to learn quickly.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to present to non-finance stakeholders; detail-oriented; able to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Preferred: CPA, CFA, or MBA.
- 2-3 years in health insurance; experience with publicly traded company; Big 4 public accounting; leadership or supervisory experience.
