About the Role
The field technician performs high-quality service and maintenance on the full line of equipment, attachments, and components represented or supported by VCES. The work focuses on field service with occasional shop support.
What You'll Do
- Demonstrate safe and proper application of hand, pneumatic, and electric tools.
- Perform tasks from verbal/written instructions and communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform quality repairs on the full line of products and components represented by VCES.
- Use and maintain PPE correctly.
- Work primarily in the field; may assist with repairs in the shop.
- Possess knowledge of hydraulic, air, electrical, and lubrication systems.
- Work on and around heavy construction equipment, including climbing and accessing hard-to-reach areas.
- Lift up to 50 pounds; maintain and secure a personal tool set.
- Manage parts ordering and retrieval, customer follow-up, and work order status.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Maintain professionalism in customer interactions and communications.
- Be flexible to assignments and willing to work overtime when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on construction-related equipment.
- Technical school certificate or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs.
- Prior experience in the construction industry preferred.
- Background with hydraulics and diesel engines preferred.
- Requires prolonged periods of sitting/standing, frequent stooping, bending, crouching, overhead reaching, occasional climbing of stairs/steps; may be required to lift over 50 lbs and up to 30 lbs frequently.
- Ability to use a set of tools and carry out tasks safely.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Willingness to work overtime and travel as needed (the posting notes this is not travel heavy).
Nice to Have
- Experience with hydraulic and diesel systems is preferred.
- Construction equipment field service experience is advantageous.
