About the Role The Field Service Technician Co-Op will support Motorola Solutions' Northeast Field Service Operations from Syracuse, NY, delivering hands-on technical support to public safety customers. This program blends RF communications and computer/networking skills to help protect safer communities while gaining real-world, mentored experience. What You'll Do
- Provide technical support on specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications.
- Maintain and document complex communications systems and provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
- Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered during system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
- Participate in continuous training on the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
- Collaborate with customers, subcontractors and internal teams (Sales, Engineering, Project Management, and Customer Service) to ensure successful field activities. What We're Looking For
- Actively pursuing a certification in Security+, Network+, CCNA, or NRS1.
- Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as LAN and WAN.
- Computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems to include cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
- RF interfaces and systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
- Standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
- Logging recording systems.
- Experience with Motorola Base Stations (GTR series, Quantar, etc.) and Consoles (MCC7500E and MCC7500).
- Knowledge of RF Infrastructure Technologies (SmartZone, SmartNet, Consoles, ASTRO) is strongly preferred.
- Willingness to work in high-security CJIS environments and pass fingerprint background checks.
- Must be a current student enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year program; U.S. citizen able to obtain required security clearance; valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Travel under 10%. Nice to Have
- Experience with RF Infrastructure Technologies such as Motorola SmartZone, SmartNet, Console Systems, ASTRO A7.x - A20.x; Digital systems and installation procedures is a plus. Compensation & Benefits
- Target Base Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000 USD per year. Salary varies based on knowledge and experience.
