Field Service Technician/Engineer (Medical Device Laser & Automation Equipment)

Travel-Based Role | 50%+ U.S. Travel with Occasional International Travel

Division: Machine Solutions, Alpine Laser

Location: Minneapolis, MN (field-based, supporting customers across the Minneapolis area and the U.S.)

Compensation: $33 - $41 per hour

Are you a field service technician or engineer with medical device manufacturing experience who does your best work on the road and on the production floor? Join the Aftermarket team at MSI’s Alpine Laser division and support the precision laser and automation equipment that medical device manufacturers rely on to build products that improve patients’ lives. Based in Minneapolis, you’ll travel to customer sites across the Minneapolis area and the U.S., with occasional international trips for training and customer support, to install, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced systems, and you’ll be the expert customers count on when uptime matters most.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead equipment installations, upgrades, and preventive maintenance at customer sites across the U.S.

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software issues in fast-paced production environments

  • Provide onsite and remote technical support with fast, reliable response times

  • Train customer operators and maintenance teams on equipment operation and best practices

  • Own service cases from assignment through resolution

  • Complete accurate, detailed service documentation and reports

  • Share field insights with Engineering to improve product quality and performance

  • Support customer visits, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and lab activities

  • What You Bring

  • 2–4 years of field service, maintenance, or technical support experience

  • Proven experience supporting medical device manufacturing equipment, including troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, upgrades, and service repairs

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems (PLC experience a plus)

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings

  • Hands-on proficiency with tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment

  • A methodical, persistent approach to problem-solving and troubleshooting

  • Clear communication skills and a professional, customer-first presence

  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training preferred; engineering degree a plus

  • Key Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel 50%+ within the U.S., with occasional international travel

  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one, with no travel restrictions

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work in industrial and manufacturing environments
