About the Role Join Motorola Solutions as a Field Service Technician supporting mission-critical public safety communications for the Miami area. The role focuses on deploying, optimizing, and repairing infrastructure, loggers, subscribers, microwave equipment, computers, servers and network gear, with 24/7/365 support for public safety customers. What You'll Do
- Deploy, optimize, and repair infrastructure, public safety loggers, subscribers, microwave equipment, computers, servers, and network equipment
- Maintain, optimize, test, document and manage highly technical Motorola communications systems
- Focus on maintaining optimal performance levels across an integrated system and proactively address alarms/malfunctions
- Manage system availability through routine maintenance, performance monitoring and preventative maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance routines with trend analysis and documentation
- Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting, provisioning of network infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and broadband systems
- Deliver knowledge of RF systems (transmitters, receivers, antenna networks) and standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching
- Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments
- Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered in system maintenance, upgrades or support issues
- Continuously train in the latest technologies; stay current
- Team with Engineering, Project Management, Customer Service and Sales to maintain and support advanced systems meeting customer expectations
- Develop and deliver technical training; guide on integrating new tools and solutions into team operations
- Maintain logging/recording systems and RF interfaces; familiarity with 911 applications and networking equipment What We're Looking For
- Experience as a Communications System Technician with expertise in P25 systems, LMR RF, wired/wireless communications, networking equipment, IT networks, and subscriber equipment
- Highly knowledgeable in wired/wireless communications systems, including LAN/WAN
- Strong understanding and awareness of cybersecurity principles and practices
- Proficient in Google Suite, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access
- Exceptional self-management and interpersonal skills to collaborate with customers, subcontractor partners, and Motorola teams
- Self-motivated and capable of performing duties independently without direct supervision
- Skilled in quickly resolving customer problems even in stressful situations
- Familiar with configuring/testing base stations, repeaters, routers, switches, and MPLS networks
- Proficient in installing, configuring and maintaining computer networks, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges
- Ability to develop and deliver technical training
- Provides guidance on integrating new tools and solutions into team operations
- Experience with equipment used to optimize/testing Motorola systems (Communications Systems Analyzers, Power Sensors and Watt Meters, TIMS sets, CPS, CSS, Antenna Systems Analyzers, FDRs)
- Skilled in configuring and testing Motorola two-way radio and subscriber products
- Experience with logging/recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless, 911 applications, and networking equipment
- Must live within commutable distance to the Miami Dade County area; travel 25% of the time; within 50 miles; must obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s). Nice to Have
