Field Service Technician - Central New York

About the Role The Field Service Technician must live a commutable distance to Syracuse, NY and will support Public Safety customers across Central New York. You will perform preventative maintenance, analyze trends, document results, and develop solutions to technical problems to ensure peak system performance. What You'll Do

• Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and documentation of results.
• Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered during system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
• Engage in continuous training on latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management and Sales to effectively maintain, optimize and support advanced communication systems that meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Optimize and support complex communications systems and software applications, including troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning of system infrastructure, and performance optimization of RF and broadband systems.
• Maintain, optimize, test and document complex communications systems.
• Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
• Share knowledge of RF systems (transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks) and standard telephony and dedicated data circuits, including packet switching techniques. What We're Looking For
• 2+ years of experience in one of: LMR, RF systems, Radio Communications, Radio Frequency, Motorola equipment, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, IT Systems, Telecommunications, Public Safety, Engineering, Networking equipment, or Military experience.
• 2-year Associate Degree in Electronics or IT (preferred) or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Security+ or CompTIA or related certification is highly desirable.
• Proficient in computer network installation, configuration and maintenance systems including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges.
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN.
• Experience with logging/recording systems, RF interfaces, wired/wireless communications systems and networking equipment.
• Proficient in Google Workspace, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access.
• Strong self-management and interpersonal skills to work closely with customers, MSS community, and cross-functional teams.
• Self-motivated and capable of performing duties with limited direct supervision.
• Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customers.
• Must reside in Central New York or be willing to commute to Public Safety customers located in Central New York.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely; visa sponsorship not available.
• Must have a current, valid driver’s license with no traffic violations.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25-50% of the time.
• This role may involve working in CJIS-cleared environments and will require fingerprint background checks. Nice to Have
• Security+ or CompTIA or related certification (already listed under required qualifications but noted).
• 2-year Associate Degree in Electronics or IT (preferred).
• Experience with Google Suite and general IT tools. Compensation & Benefits
• Target Base Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 USD per year.
