About the Role The Field Service Technician Co-Op will support Motorola Solutions’ Mid Atlantic Field Service Operations Team located in Beltsville, MD. This role provides a direct, hands-on opportunity to work with skilled technical leaders in the organization, delivering a blend of RF communications and computer/networking skills to Public Safety customers in the Mid Atlantic region. What You'll Do
- Play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth execution of mission critical field activities and optimizing efficiency by applying academic principles in a dynamic professional setting.
- Demonstrate an aptitude for Networking and/or Radio Frequency.
- Provide technical support on specialized telecommunications systems and public safety product applications.
- Maintain and document complex communications systems.
- Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments.
- Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues.
- Engage in continuous training in the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques. What We're Looking For
- Must be a current student attending a 2-year or 4-year program at a college, university, or technical school.
- Preference will be given to Prince George's Community College students.
- Actively pursuing a certification in Security+, Network+, CCNA, or NRS1.
- Knowledge of wired communications systems, such as LAN and WAN.
- Computer network installation, configuration, and maintenance systems including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges.
- RF interfaces and systems such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks.
- Telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques.
- Logging/recording systems.
- Travel under 10%.
- U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
- Must possess a current and valid driver's license and have a clean driving record. Nice to Have
- Experience with Motorola Base Stations (GTR series, Quantar, etc.) and Consoles (MCC7500E and MCC7500).
- Knowledge of Motorola RF infrastructure technologies such as SmartZone, SmartNet, Console Systems, ASTRO Conventional and Trunked equipment. Compensation & Benefits
- Target Base Salary Range: $40,000 - $50,000 USD per year.
- This position is subject to CJIS Security Policy requirements and fingerprint background check.
- Travel under 10%; relocation not provided.
