About the Role The Field Service Engineer is a field-based, customer-facing role responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining, and implementing field corrective actions on BD Life Sciences equipment at customer sites in clinical and research laboratories. The employee reports to the District Service Manager and collaborates with district team leads to obtain formal instrument training and field-based on-the-job training for certification on BD products. This role must comply with Quality, GMP, ISO and safety regulations and adhere to company travel policies. What You'll Do
- Provide service, preventive maintenance, modifications and installations of BD Life Sciences equipment at customer sites with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot system failures and perform on-site customer repairs; responsible for timely and effective repairs.
- Manage company assets including cell phone, computer, tablet, tools, inventory parts, etc.
- Establish and foster positive business relationships with customers and peers.
- Perform administrative duties including recording time worked, training, expense reporting, etc.
- Provide ongoing feedback to customers regarding instrument repair and status.
- Interface regularly with Technical Support to provide the highest level of customer support.
- Work closely with district team leads and dispatch to schedule and support the customer base. What We're Looking For
- Associates degree in electrical, mechanical or similar engineering field.
- Computer Networking, Computer Science.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and able to utilize computer-based tools for reports, email, and general communication.
- Ability to work both individually and in a team setting.
- Positive interface with customers, peers and support personnel; ability to think and act in a logical and methodical way.
- Willingness and ability to work different shifts, on-call, nights and weekends.
- Understanding of basic computer security concepts and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license with at least 3 years of driving history.
- Flexibility to travel up to 50% of time outside the home geographic area, based upon business needs.
- Must be able to lift up to 30lbs frequently and up to 70lbs infrequently.
- Must be able to stand, bend and stoop for up to 10 hours.
- Must be able to push/pull materials up to 100lbs.
- Adhere to PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) standards/guidelines required by company policy. Nice to Have
- Biomed program preferred.
- Equivalent Military training acceptable.
