About the Role A Field Service Engineer works independently or with more experienced engineers in performing inspections, tuning, operational audits, and pre-commissioning testing on boilers and environmental equipment, and writes estimates and proposals. This role requires extensive travel to client sites (approximately 90%) and involves participation in commissioning and startup activities for power plants and B&W equipment. What You'll Do
- Collect and evaluate field data.
- Work with customers, account executives, vendors and sublet vendors with guidance from the District Engineer or a senior engineer.
- Prepare technical reports including service and special reports.
- Serve as part of commissioning teams on project startups.
- Perform site activities including boiler inspections, condition assessments and boiler operation evaluations.
- Provide construction technical support and outage management.
- Work on estimates and proposals for equipment upgrades. What We're Looking For
- Education: High School Diploma or GED, Vocational/Technical, or Associate's Degree minimum, or 8+ years of related experience.
- Job competencies: demonstrated problem-solving skills; good communication; willingness and ability to travel; decision-making authority with little supervision; ability to assess equipment needs and perform walk-downs and inspections; troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment at a customer site.
- Travel: Domestic travel required ~90% of time.
- Physical requirements: ability to lift up to 25 lbs; push/pull up to 10 lbs; bending, walking, standing, sitting; manual dexterity and visual acuity.
