About the Role SEIU Local 32BJ is seeking a Field Representative to work in public sector bargaining units across Eastern Pennsylvania, based in the Southeastern PA / Lehigh Valley region. This role is field-based and involves daily interaction with members on worksites, not an office job. The ideal candidate will be trained to advance contract enforcement, organizing, and social justice campaigns. What You'll Do
- Work with union stewards to educate and inform members of their rights and responsibilities under their Union contract.
- Address workplace issues raised by members and work with the member and steward to identify issues and facilitate a path to a solution.
- Determine whether issues rise to the level of a grievance and handle grievances from initiation through resolution.
- Understand the contract, grievance time limits, and processes; track steps in CRM and keep members informed.
- Educate members about the benefits of union membership and the importance of political participation.
- Mobilize members to participate in contract, organizing, and social justice campaigns; identify and recruit members for leadership roles; develop leadership skills.
- Develops and maintains relationships with employers to effectively represent members and enforce the contract.
- Negotiate resolutions of grievances and workplace problems with management; conduct labor-management meetings; draft meeting agendas; facilitate steward-front-line supervisor relationships.
- Identify and develop shop stewards and member leaders; design and conduct trainings; expand activist base district-wide and union-wide.
- Support organizing campaigns among non-union workers; connect member leaders to broader social and economic justice movements.
- Set goals, measure progress, develop work plans for your turf, and hold leaders accountable.
- Conduct on-site membership meetings; recruit and maintain membership and ensure correct data in membership records. What We're Looking For
- Working knowledge of collective bargaining and contract administration.
- Willingness to be trained to draft proposals, lead negotiations, run contract campaigns, and ratify contracts.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in organizing, mobilization, and involving people in action; ability to work independently and manage competing demands.
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and beliefs.
- Valid driver's license and a car in working order; willingness to drive long distances.
- Ability to work nights and weekends when needed.
- Experience as an active union member strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; proven commitment to labor movement and social justice.
- Ability to build respectful relationships with people from diverse backgrounds; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, email, and database tools; willingness to conduct site visits. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary starting at $68,834 per year, based on experience.
- Fully employer-paid medical, dental, and vision plan for full-time employees and qualified dependents.

- Paid time off: three weeks of vacation, eleven holidays, twelve sick days, and four personal days after the first year of service.
