SEIU Local 1021 Field Representative for the Education Team based in East Bay, CA is a field-oriented organizing role focused on developing worksite leadership, handling grievances and campaigns, recruiting members, and supporting union contracts and political action. This position requires events in the evenings and on weekends and is not a traditional 9-to-5 job. What You'll Do
- Recruitment: work with union leadership and stewards to recruit new members and maintain regular one-on-one contact with members.
- Leadership Development: build and sustain worksite leadership structures, training and supporting stewards and leaders; form stewards' councils and issue committees.
- Communication: maintain regular communication with workers through visits, flyers, newsletters, calls, mailings, postings, and meetings; respond to messages promptly.
