About this role
Field Marketing & Event Pipeline Manager
San Francisco, in-office | Reports to the CMO
About the company
Our client is an early-stage AI company in San Francisco. Their software helps companies that make and sell physical products plan their supply chains and commercial spend. The old forecasting playbook stopped working a while ago. Demand shifts faster than it used to, and their customers, from fast-growing brands to large multinationals, need better ways to decide what to make, where to put it, and where to invest.
The role
Most of the company’s pipeline comes from events right now. They need someone to own that channel and grow it.
This is a marketing role for someone with a sales brain. You’ll be at the booth having real conversations: figuring out if someone’s a fit, answering their pushback, and getting a meeting on the calendar before the show ends. Before each event you’ll work the attendee list and book meetings ahead of time. After each event you’ll follow up quickly so those conversations turn into pipeline.
A lot of the best people for this job are SDRs or BDRs who like the conversations but want to move into marketing. If that’s you, they’d like to talk. The event strategy and logistics side can be learned, and you’ll learn it working closely with the CMO. The ability to turn a two-minute chat into a booked meeting is much harder to teach.
What you’ll do
-
Set a meetings and pipeline goal for every event, and hit it
-
Work attendee lists weeks ahead of each show with sales and demand gen, and book meetings before you travel
-
Staff the booth, run meetings on-site, and loop in a product expert when a conversation needs one
-
Follow up within 48 hours with notes that reflect the actual conversation, and keep HubSpot up to date
-
Manage the event budget (seven figures and growing) and a calendar of 10+ booked conferences, including logistics and vendors
-
Help start the company’s own events, like executive dinners and regional events in key sales markets
-
Figure out which shows produce pipeline and which ones just cost money, and help shape the calendar going forward
-
Set up meetings with nearby prospects and customers around each trip, so a two-day conference turns into a full week of selling
-
Work with demand gen, content, and rev ops so outreach doesn’t overlap and results get tracked
-
Who they’re looking for
-
You might be an SDR or BDR with a year or more of experience selling to enterprise companies. You might be finishing up an MBA after a few years in a GTM or operations role (a STEM undergrad is a plus). Or you might be a field marketer who has personally booked meetings and can point to the pipeline that came from them.
-
Whatever your background, you’re comfortable qualifying someone and setting a next step without a script. You plan ahead and don’t wait for booth traffic to find you. And you want to own something, not just work a call list.
-
Nice to have
-
Background in supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, CPG, or industrial markets
-
Experience with HubSpot, ZoomInfo, or similar tools
-
Time at an early-stage company where there wasn’t a playbook
-
You’ve run an event solo for your company before
-
The practical stuff
-
The role is based in the company’s San Francisco office five days a week when you’re not on the road. Travel is usually around 25% of your time and can reach 50% during busy stretches. Most of it is in North America, with some trips to Europe as the company expands there.
