About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Field Engineer to support the engineering and construction teams on a Line Structure Project. The ideal candidate will provide on-site technical expertise, ensure compliance with project specifications, coordinate field activities, and help maintain safety, quality, and schedule requirements for railroad construction. What You'll Do
- Provide assistance to the Project Manager / Client Management as directed
- Review shop drawings and provide engineering support during construction
- May provide technical guidance to support staff, contractors, and vendors
- Check designs and drawings; monitor Rail Outage schedules
- Nights / Weekend work required – 12-hour shifts; coordinate field activities with other trades
- Prepare daily inspection reports and ensure contract compliance
- Monitor subcontractor and supplier usage with pre-approval
- Assist the contractor(s) with the coordination of activities on the construction site with the other trades and facility
- Monitor workforce and performance against the work plan
- Complete punch lists and track completion
- Perform additional duties as deemed necessary What We're Looking For
- 3-5 years minimum experience in Railroad construction
- BS in Civil Engineering
- Ability to review shop drawings, perform inspections, prepare reports
- Pass Safety Training
- Valid driver's license
- Proficient in Windows/ Outlook / Word / Excel
- Knowledge of ballast, ties and Rail structure, bridge and facility construction methods, materials, standards, and specifications
- Knowledge of typical Structural Steel Repairs, experience in reviewing shop drawings
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials; state and federal safety/environment guidelines and regulations
- Experience with Rail Outage and schedules
- On-site field experience Nice to Have
- Experience on rail projects for MTA or similar
- Additional certifications or training in field operations Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: 55 per hour
- Nights / Weekend 12-hour shifts
