About the Role The Field Engineer is responsible for the implementation of complex communication system infrastructure and technical support of specialized sub-systems and product applications, including troubleshooting software-driven electronics, IP networks, server and network hardware, and performance verification/optimization of RF and broadband architecture (legacy analog, advanced digital P25, and data). This role supports Government & Public Safety Communications customers on a national scale. What You'll Do
- Team with Engineering, Project Management, and Sales to design, implement, optimize, test, cutover, and document advanced communication systems that meet customer expectations.
- Provide weekly activity reports and oversee onsite installation of network, server, and RF equipment using design drawings and product documentation; produce as-built information for the final system package.
- Configure networks, servers, RF, and databases onsite and remotely; provide as-configured documentation and baseline reports.
- Use system logs/tools to troubleshoot networks, servers, databases, and RF infrastructure; verify event monitoring applications are fault-free.
- Perform acceptance testing using product test plans; correct deficiencies and provide accepted test results for documentation.
- Use project design data and FCC license information to verify/optimize RF infrastructure; provide baseline measurements.
- Design/develop solutions to technical issues encountered during implementation, upgrades, or support.
- Perform preventative maintenance with trend analysis and documentation. What We're Looking For
- Unique combinations of multi-site RF communications systems and computer/networking skills; strong LAN/WAN IP network knowledge; proficient in installing/configuring/maintaining cabling, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Experience with Server Virtualization (VMware ESXi 6+ and/or Microsoft Hyper-V 2012+); Windows Server OS (2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2019); Workstation OS (Windows 7 & 10).
- Knowledge of secure products/protocols (KMF, KVL, AES); RF systems (transmitters/receivers/filters/antenna networks); Project 25 products (trunked and conventional).
- Experience with Motorola base stations (Quantar, G-Series), consoles (MCC7500, AXS), Astro25 equipment, Channel Banks/T1 circuits; standard telephony and dedicated data circuits; packet-switching techniques.
- Proficiency with logging/recording systems; test equipment including system analyzers, RF power sensors, Ethernet test sets, TIMS; Motorola subscribers (APX, APX Next) and CPS programming software.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Access, Google G-Suite); excellent communication and ability to work with customers and teams; self-motivated and able to operate with minimal supervision in stressful situations.
- Valid driver’s license, ability to obtain government background clearance, and willingness to travel (>75%).
- Ideally pursuing or holding at least one industry network certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+/Security+, Juniper JNCIA, Cisco CCNA, Nokia NRS). Nice to Have

- Base salary range: $80,000 – $90,000 per year (USD).
