PGO Engineering FERT Coordinator
This position is responsible for coordinating, investigating, and assembling information for BES (Bulk Electric System) transmission projects in advance of commissioning and initial energization. The role is FERT Coordinator and is the lead role for the region’s Facility Energization Ratings Team (FERT). The FERT will coordinate the activities associated with installed component verifications following construction involving BES components. The FERT organization also provides the Facility Ratings Coordinator (FRC) routine meetings and contact points to help address installation, component, or ratings questions related to Facility Ratings. The FERT activities are performed for all projects involving BES components, no matter whether the design, procurement or construction is performed by Duke Energy personnel or by a third party vendor company. The FERT activities include not only energizations at the end of a project or the end of project phases, but each separate energization of BES components that are part of a project.
Responsibilities

Support successful project completion in conjunction with the project teams by developing schedules, monitoring work, coordinating resources, and resolving procedural problems associated with energizing BES assets.

Provide the leadership to accomplish successful documentation and verification of FAC-008 component inventories prior to commissioning and energization.

Interface with multiple organizations, including Transmission Engineering (Transmission Line Engineering, Substation Engineering, Protection & Controls Engineering), Asset Management, System Operations, Transmission Planning, Work Management and Project Management.

Document lessons learned from each project with BES assets being energized to provide meaningful and direct change and improvement to the emergent NERC O&P Transmission Level Procedures and the Facility Energization Process.

Required/Basic Qualifications

Associates degree in Project Management, Business, Information Technology, or Engineering Technology

7 years related work experience

In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 7 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 9 year(s) related work experience

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field from ABET accredited college or university

Professional Engineer license

Working knowledge and understanding of transmission line, substation, and protection & controls engineering facilities and equipment

Familiarity with transmission and distribution systems

Broad knowledge of overall company operations

Demonstrated leadership abilities including decision making, delivering results, and navigating change

Self motivated with strong collaboration skills

Strong analytical skills combined with tenacity and persistence

Ability to manage complex transitional issues through innovation and teamwork

Familiarity with (or Working Knowledge of) NERC Standard FAC-008 and Transmission Level Procedures (TLP) related to FAC-008
