Job Title: Female School Nurse

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Reports To: Boarding Coordinator

Job Purpose

• The School Nurse is responsible for providing safe, professional and compassionate healthcare to students, particularly boarding students, and ensuring that all health-related matters are properly managed, documented and communicated.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, first aid and appropriate emergency response to students and staff.
• Assess students who are unwell or injured and arrange appropriate medical attention when required.
• Administer prescribed medication safely and maintain accurate medication records.
• Monitor students receiving treatment and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all students.
• Work closely with the Boarding Coordinator and House Parents regarding students' health and medical needs.
• Ensure proper handover of medical information between nurses, House Parents and the Boarding Coordinator.
• Promptly escalate serious medical concerns, emergencies, medication errors and other significant incidents to the Boarding Coordinator.
• Liaise with parents/guardians, hospitals and healthcare professionals as authorised by the School.
• Maintain the Health Centre, medical equipment and supplies in a clean, safe and organised condition.
• Monitor medical supplies and promptly report shortages or expired items.
• Promote good hygiene, healthy habits and general wellbeing among students.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, professional boundaries and safeguarding standards.
• Perform any other health-related duties reasonably assigned by the Boarding Coordinator or School Management.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current NMCN registration and practising licence.
• Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience.
• Experience working with children or adolescents is an advantage.
• Experience in a school or boarding-school environment is desirable.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification is an advantage.
