Job Title: Female Accountant

Location: Lagos Island, Lagos

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Accountant is responsible for overseeing branch accounting operations, financial controls, reconciliations, cash management, inventory-related financial controls, and timely financial reporting.
  • The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records and supports management with reliable financial information for decision-making.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee branch accounting activities, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing.
  • Review and reconcile sales, cash, bank, POS, receivables, payables, inter-branch, and head-office balances, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Monitor inventory-related financial records, stock reconciliations, physical counts, valuation, ageing, and variance resolution.
  • Prepare and review financial reports, branch P& L, forecasts, audit schedules, tax documentation, and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, statutory requirements, and delegated approval limits, while identifying and escalating financial risks and exceptions.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Timeliness and accuracy of month-end close, financial reports, and assigned reconciliations.
  • Accounting entry accuracy and reduction in transaction reversals arising from posting or classification errors.
  • Cash, bank, POS, AR, AP, inter-branch, and head-office reconciliation accuracy and timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Invoice, LTR, LTO, and LTI report accuracy, with a target of at least 95% error-free reporting.
  • Timely resolution of financial exceptions and audit findings

Education and Work Experience

  • B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline with a minimum of Second Class Lower/Upper Credit.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant accounting experience, preferably within retail, distribution, consumer electronics, FMCG, or a similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting, reconciliations, cash management, AR/AP, inventory control, financial reporting, and month-end close.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems; practical Odoo experience isan advantage.
  • ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, or other relevant professional qualification, part-qualification, or professionalstudies is an added advantage.

Skills and Behaviour:

  • Strong accounting, numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • High integrity, accuracy, accountability, and a sound understanding of financial controls.
  • Strong ability to analyse financial information, identify variances, investigate exceptions, and drive timely resolution.
  • Excellent communication, report-writing, organisation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with Finance, Operations, and other business functions.

Remuneration

N280,000 - N350,000 monthly. (This is subject to experience)
