About this role

A Fellowship for Service Members (Acquisition & Program Manager) with MTSI in Tampa, FL offers exposure to acquisition and program management support for complex and critical USSOCOM AT&L programs. You will apply your military and government acquisition experience across the defense lifecycle, from requirements generation to fielding and sustainment, serving as a bridge between warfighters, program offices, and industry partners. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with USSOCOM senior leaders and subject matter experts across air, space, cyber, and maritime domains to support DoD and IC customers.

Responsibilities

  • Directly manage the spend plan and budget execution for major defense acquisition programs supporting AFSOC special operations, leveraging experience with government funding, planning, and budget cycles.
  • Oversee the procurement, modification, and sustainment of a broad range of SOF systems and equipment for platforms such as AC/MC-130J, CV-22, C-146, U-28, and OA-1K.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between AFSOC/A3TS, AFSOC/A5, multiple program offices, and defense contractors, translating warfighter requirements into actionable acquisition strategies.
  • Develop and manage the acquisition strategy and budget for a suite of programs to meet evolving SOF needs while aligning with DoD directives.
  • Apply knowledge of the acquisitions process to assist with congressional notifications, budget development, and high-level taskers and RFIs.
  • Participate in SkillBridge activities, engaging actively with DoD acquisition environments and applying defense lifecycle experience on a contractor basis.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in government or military acquisition, program management, or a related field.
  • Experience with the FAR and/or DFARS, and with preparing briefings and documentation per DoD instructions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to meet DoD SkillBridge qualification requirements.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business/program management, or a related field (extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).

Preferred/Additional capabilities:

  • USAF and/or USSOCOM acquisition experience; facility security officer experience (handling visit requests and personnel clearances); and experience with AFSOC special operations equipment development, testing, and fielding.
  • DAWIA Level II/III certification in Program Management or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of SOF culture and operational environment.

Clearance:

  • Must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance, or be able to obtain one.
