Family Support Worker

About the Role The Family Support Worker (FSW) provides long-term, in-home support to families, focusing on building trusting relationships with parents and caregivers to promote healthy child development and overall family well-being. This role involves conducting home visits, strengthening parenting skills, connecting families to resources, and helping families set and achieve personalized goals. What You'll Do

• Conduct home visits (primarily in the family's residence) with visits lasting at least one hour using a family-centered, strength-based approach.
• Outreach to families referred by Connecting NJ or service providers to determine eligibility and introduce services.
• Use the Family Resilience and Opportunities for Growth (FROG) Scale to identify strengths and risk factors and tailor supports.
• Support healthy parent-child relationships and guidance to strengthen emotional connections and parenting skills.
• Help families optimize the home environment for child growth and development.
• Expand families' support networks, assist in problem-solving and self-advocacy.
• Identify and refer families to healthcare and community resources; collaborate to set achievable goals and monitor progress.
• Observe developmental milestones and maintain accurate records per agency guidelines; travel as needed. What We're Looking For
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional related education is a plus.
• At least 2 years of experience working with or providing services to children and families.
• Ability to build trusting, supportive relationships with diverse populations; cultural humility.
• Knowledge of infant and child development; commitment to healthy family dynamics.
• Willingness to engage in reflective practice, supervision, and ongoing personal growth.
• Flexible schedule including evenings or weekends; ability to travel statewide for trainings.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance; willingness to travel between sites.
• Bilingual: English and Spanish required. Nice to Have
• Additional education in a related field; experience with culturally diverse populations; prior home visitation experience. Compensation & Benefits
• Compensation: USD 20.00 - 28.00 per hour. In compliance with the Pay Transparency Act.
