Job title: Faculty - Small Animal Surgery (Tenure/Clinical Track)
About the Role The LIU College of Veterinary Medicine in Brookville, New York invites applications for two full-time faculty positions in small animal surgery, on tenure- or clinical-track. Successful candidates will contribute to education, research and service across LIU-CVM and affiliate hospitals.
What You'll Do
- Provide clinical and didactic teaching in the small animal surgery course and laboratories
- Supervise the small animal surgery clinical clerkship and participate in Veterinary Skills courses (semesters 1–6 of the DVM program)
- Engage in curriculum development and create or identify innovative learning resources
- Serve on committees (admissions, curriculum, research, etc.) and promote the college’s mission
- Develop independent or collaborative research in small animal surgery with LIU-CVM partners/affiliate hospitals
- Interact with university administration, the veterinary education community, faculty, students, and alumni, fostering a culture of diversity, equity and inclusion
- Contribute to the overall research and scholarly goals of the College, including curricular initiatives
What We're Looking For
- DVM or equivalent degree with expertise in small animal surgery
- Specialty board certification or eligibility by ACVS or equivalent
- ACVS certification/eligibility is essential; advanced training in small animal surgery and research with a PhD is desirable
- Working knowledge of curricular design and implementation
- One successful candidate will serve as the course director for the small animal surgery course (3rd year) and the small animal clerkship (4th year)
- Demonstrated ability to promote diversity, equity and inclusiveness and work with university administration, faculty, students and alumni
Nice to Have
- Advanced training in small animal surgery and research with a PhD
- Experience with curricular design and implementation
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $125,000 – $185,000 per year (FLSA Exempt)
