About the Role
The Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine (LIU-CVM) in Brookville, New York, invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Small Animal Medicine. Appointments are available on either the tenure or clinical track as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Primary responsibilities include clinical and didactic teaching in the small animal medicine course and laboratories, supervision of the small animal medicine clinical clerkship, and active participation in the Veterinary Skills courses offered in semesters 1-6 of the DVM program. No clinical duty is required, but there will be opportunities to collaborate with affiliate practices. Successful candidates are expected to promote LIU-CVM’s mission of teaching, academic excellence, and service.
What You'll Do
- Active engagement in curriculum development, identification or creation of innovative learning resources, committee service participation (such as admissions, curriculum, research, etc.) is expected of both clinical and tenure-track faculty.
- All tenure-track faculty contribute to the College's overall research and scholarly goals and are expected to develop independent or collaborative research in the field of small animal medicine within and outside LIU, which may include working with LIU-CVM partners/affiliate veterinary hospitals.
- Teach and supervise in the small animal medicine course and laboratories; supervise the small animal medicine clinical clerkship; participate in the Veterinary Skills courses offered in DVM semesters 1-6.
- Promote LIU-CVM’s mission of teaching, academic excellence, and service to a variety of stakeholders.
- Engage in curriculum development and committee service.
What We're Looking For
- DVM or equivalent degree with expertise in small animal medicine.
- Specialty board certification/eligibility by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM SA) or equivalent is essential.
- Advanced training in small animal medicine and research, with a PhD, is desired.
- Working knowledge of curricular design and implementation.
- Ability to promote a culture of diversity, equity and inclusiveness and interact well with university administration, the veterinary education community, faculty, students, and alumni.
Nice to Have
- PhD in a relevant field (advanced training in small animal medicine and research is desired).
- Experience with curricular design and assessment; ability to work within a distributed/affiliate clinical education model.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: USD 120,001 – 170,000 per year.
