About this role

A brief overview

The Facilities Operations Technician, in conjunction with the Repair & Maintenance Manager, is responsible for the maintenance, inspection, and repair of the site's building infrastructure and utility systems. This includes HVAC, purified water generation and distribution, plumbing, house vacuum systems, and building finishes.

What you will do

  • Perform building plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, door and hardware, and general construction repairs.
  • Execute preventive maintenance on facility and utility assets as scheduled in the CMMS.
  • Perform routine facility inspections on the established schedule, document findings, and initiate work orders for identified deficiencies under the guidance of senior technicians.
  • Assist with the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of HVAC systems, including air handling units, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, exhaust systems, VFD controllers, and dampers.
  • Support maintenance of the purified water generation, storage, and distribution system, including associated points of use.
  • Respond to facility and utility alarms; perform initial troubleshooting and escalate complex issues.
  • Document repairs, adjustments, and equipment replacement per SOPs and cGMP regulations, maintaining accurate and contemporaneous work order records.
  • Remain up to date with all required training and arrive to work on time.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or trade school certification with 0-2 years relevant experience Required or
  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years relevant experience Required
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment
  • Ability to communicate in a proactive and solution-focused manner, including keeping management aware of potential issues and excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems
  • Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
  • Ability to communicate effectively and ability to function well in a team environment
  • Flexibility of working hours based on business needs, may include some nights and occasional weekends
  • Experience in a GMP environment (preferred) along with familiarity with environmental healthe and safety regulations
  • Experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, equipment and high mechanical ability
  • Experience with VFD controllers, chillers, boilers, electrical circuits, air handlers, air conditioners, refrigeration systems and all general facility equipment
  • Must be able to work a rotating on-call schedule (for weekends)
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory practices
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record Required

Base Hourly Range:

Facilities Operations Technician I: $20.20 - $27.78

Facilities Operations Technician II: $23.92-$32.90

Facilities OperationsTechnician III: $26.55 $36.51

Placement of new hires in these wage ranges is based on several factors including education, skill sets, experience, and training.
