Dangote Fertilizer Facilities Manager

To ensure the plant's utilities, grounds and support services are safe, clean, compliant and fully operational. The role also manages housekeeping standards and all facilities-related vendors, including statutory engagement with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

1. Job Purpose

To ensure the plant's utilities, grounds and support services are safe, clean, compliant and fully operational. The role also manages housekeeping standards and all facilities-related vendors, including statutory engagement with the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Housekeeping

  • Set, monitor and enforce cleanliness and hygiene standards across the plant, offices, canteen, restrooms and common areas.
  • Prepare cleaning schedules, checklists and inspection routines.
  • Manage the housekeeping team's rosters, supplies and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections and ensure corrective action is taken promptly.
  • Oversee pest control and fumigation programmes.

B. Waste Management and LAWMA Liaison

  • Ensure proper segregation, collection, storage and disposal of general and industrial waste.
  • Serve as the primary contact with LAWMA and its accredited waste contractors.
  • Maintain valid registrations, permits, waste manifests and payment records.
  • Schedule waste collections to prevent overflow and site contamination.
  • Ensure compliance with Lagos State environmental regulations and the plant's EHS policies.
  • Support audits and inspections by LAWMA, LASEPA and other regulatory bodies.

C. Vendor Management

  • Identify, evaluate and onboard facilities service providers (cleaning, security, catering, transport, maintenance, pest control, waste).
  • Negotiate contracts and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Monitor vendor performance using KPIs and conduct periodic reviews.
  • Verify and approve vendor invoices before payment.
  • Ensure vendors comply with HSE requirements, insurance and statutory obligations.

D. Health, Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce safe working practices in all facilities activities.
  • Ensure fire safety equipment, emergency exits and evacuation plans are maintained and tested.
  • Investigate facilities-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulations and permits.

E. Reporting and Team Leadership

  • Submit weekly and monthly facilities, housekeeping and vendor performance reports.
  • Supervise, train and appraise facilities staff.
  • Handle staff and vendor disputes and escalate issues where necessary.

3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

4. Qualifications and Experience

  • B.Sc./HND in Facilities Management, Engineering, Estate Management, Environmental Management or a related field.
  • 7+ years' facilities management experience, at least 3 in a supervisory or managerial role (manufacturing or plant environment preferred).
  • Professional certifications are an advantage (e.g., NEBOSH/IOSH, IFMA/BIFM, PMP).

5. Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of plant maintenance, utilities, and housekeeping standards.
  • Experience dealing with LAWMA, LASEPA and other Lagos State regulators.
  • Contract negotiation and vendor performance management.
  • Budgeting and cost control.
  • Leadership, communication and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and facilities software.

6. Working Conditions

  • Based at the plant, with regular site walks and inspections.
  • May be required to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours.
